CJ’s grandfather passed away a couple weeks ago & we flew the C-182 up to attend the viewing & funeral in Allegan, MI. I think CJ would say the death of his grandfather hit him hard once he arrived, but that it was a great comfort to see & feel the love of his greater family. We took our dog & it was blustery and cold with spitting snow.
Ohio>
On the flight from Kalamazoo to Birmingham, we stopped to see my grandparents in Cincinnati. It was really special for CJ & I to fly into the Lunkin Airport where grandpa would take me to watch the planes & feed the ducks in the Cincinnati River when I was little. Funny how we grow up without realizing it. Grandma spoiled us with a delicious meal & sent us happily on our way.
Alabama>
I got dropped off in Birmingham to spend some time with my parents. We ate a lot of good Southern cooking & BBQ and enjoyed a relaxing couple of days together. Mom took me shopping at Home Goods which is the decorating version of TJMaxx, & I realized it would be dangerous if I still lived close to one. Teco stayed with us & found the piano student prize stash of stuffed animals in my mom’s closet. She also found my leather boot with fur trim the morning I wanted to sleep in. I had coffee with my (now engaged) best friend Jenny & talked about wedding plans.
Georgia>
CJ continued to South Georgia where he met the rest of the Miller boys. They spent their days quail hunting at the Riverview Plantation & their nights feasting & fellowshipping. We are still enjoying the fruit of their hunting labor.
Texas>
We flew the C-182 back home for a day to prepare for our next adventure. CJ worked at JL Aero the whole day while I changed the oil in the plane & packed for CA. We dropped Teco off at the Strattons for her own doggie vacation with Gus.
